Yes and no.  What I did took using 2 plugins, one to decrease the stereo
separation, which creates the blend, but ruins the stereo separation.  So then
I have to apply a stereo enhancer plugin to recreate as best as possible the
original separation.  Not perfect, but the best I could do with simple tools
and without the master tapes. 

What I'm actually trying to achieve is what it would sound like if I was
listening to the music using speakers, where mixing naturally occurs, where
your ears do hear part of the music from each speaker.   I doubt that back in
the 60s, that the producers were designing the stereo mix based on a headphone
listening public.
