Hey Dave -

Mad Love was Ronstadt's "punk/new wave" album, if those words and that name
could be used in the same sentence with a straight face (they can't).
Ronstadt actually covered three Elvis Costello songs and three Cretones
(Mark Goldenberg) songs on the record, which was released in 1980.

The Costello covers are Party Girl, Girl's Talk and Talking In The Dark.
The Cretone numbers, all from Thin Red Line, are Mad Love, Justine and Cost
of Love. She also took a stab at Neil Young's Look Out For My Love on this
disc.

Are they any good? Depends on whether you like Ronstadt or not. When the
album was released, I liked it a lot and, coincidentally, thought Linda
Ronstadt was hot. Now, I don't think this album has aged particularly well.
Your mileage may vary.

One thing for sure: Ronstadt has a great set of pipes. May not be
everyone's cup o' tea, but she can sure belt it.

Rick
