Kelly's Colin Thurston history lesson brought us to Bowie's Heroes.
When I saw Mick Ronson play guitar on this at the Freddie Mercury Tribute
show, I suddenly realized that he was pretty much holding one note through
the whole song. I was amazed and blown away at his playing and that I had
never picked up on it from the many times I had heard the record. I guess
maybe it was moved in and out of the mix on the record, but, in the live
setting it was very powerful and made for a haunting melody.
Like Josh, I don't hear all the new things out there either.
I get my biggest kick out of rediscovering something I missed before. Like
Ronson's song long solo. Any other hidden gems out there?
