For the Shoes, I was sitting next to a 27-year-old woman who hadn't heard of anyone on the bill. She and a friend were in the neighborhood and just wanted to check out the show. She thought they were great, tight and talented. I don't know if she bought any discs, but she was impressed. And she loved The Shazam, too. Stayed till the bitter end.
I just wish the two of them had been at Wise Fools Sunday to see The Tearaways, who would fit great in a show with The Shazam. They kicked ass. Just ask me or any of the dozen or so people who weren't (a) in bands or (b) from Santa Barbara, Calif.
