To quote from the Shoes bio on their web site "From the very beginning, making records has been much more important than playing live or even becoming stars. The joy of making a record is what we live for." --Gary Klebe

Maybe part of the problem with the attendance had to do more with the fact that there wasn’t even a Reader ad for the show! There was a little press (much less than last year) for IPO this year and the couple shows (work keeping me busy too!) I’ve hit have had okay attendance, but none were busting at the doors. Unless you were on this list, there was a good chance you didn’t even know they were playing. I was calling friends who had no idea they were playing.

Last night was about the songs, which, of course, is a subjective matter. But for those of us who love Shoes, it was a great night. The PA system kept feeding back, which I am sure had something to do with the sound/singing. As an “adherent” to their legend, I was happy to listen to those great songs with my heart. I was sad to see them blasted on this list. I had a great time listening to all the bands last night and was excited to hear that Bad Examples (yeah!) are playing next week. Too cool.
