But are you suggesting that, to pull out a name at random, Fountains of
Wayne are as melodically rich, lyrically savvy and culturally
right-place-right-time as the Fabs and therefore will be as omnipresent as
them over 30 years after their dissolution? Comparing the Beatles to any
group on the current power-pop scene is like comparing Rembrandt
to...what's his name, that guy who killed himself who did the painting show
on PBS with the happy little clouds. They're both painters, but they were
working on two totally different levels.
