While it's true that the Kinks had an incredible run of albums in the late
sixties (Face to Face, Something Else by the Kinks, Village Green,
Arthur)they suffer badly from poor recording and producing.
Although remastered in 1998 sonically they are really poor compared to their
English and American fellow bands. Also, the excellent songs by Ray and
sometimes Dave deserved some better musicians to really let the songs shine.

my 002 eurocents,
Cheers Robert from sunny Holland

BTW, why are Scott Ballew's drums so poorly recorded/produced on the
Shazam's new one? Is this deliberate, as in make a compressed, bad-sounding
album with loud guitars?
