I just heard it for the first time today, and I have to say I disagree with
Jason's assessment. On the whole the new one, Welcome Interstate Managers,
is more eclectic and laid-back than anything Fountains Of Wayne had done
previously. There are a handful of songs that wear their signature stamp of
immediately catchy, distorted power pop, but to my ears most of the tracks
are not nearly as accessible as the older material and will take a few
listens to grow on me.
I'd be interested to hear the opinions of others that have heard it.
