I just got a cdr from a friend, with songs I suppose are from his 'The Fine Art Of Self Destruction' cd... it's a widely varied singer songwriter album - although definitely not unfocused - with extremely passionate vocals, and textures coming from alt country, folk, even maybe some slight experimentation from prog/art rock. Heady, moody, clever stuff indeed. I'm very impressed.

And a friend of mind adds (thought I'd share):
> Yeah, this is very different from D-Generation (and even more different from the stuff Jesse did in the mid-80s with his punk/hardcore band Heart Attack). Also different from the garage-styled stuff he played in a band in the late 80s called the Wolverteens. The producer on Jesse's new disc is Ryan Adams (who he met when Ryan was in Whiskeytown and Ryan was a huge fan of D-Generation). Ryan and Jesse also recorded (under pseudonyms due to contractual obligations) a punk/hardcore record called The Finger.

Be seeing you,
