Winston native Don Dixon is one of the music industry’s greatest unsung
heroes: producer, musician, performer, vocalist and songwriter. He is
perhaps best known for his work as producer for some of America’s
favorite artists including R.E.M., Marshall Crenshaw, The Smithereens,
and his wife, Marti Jones. But these performers have nothing on their
producer when it comes to making music.

Dixon started out as a bass player and vocalist for Arrogance. The
band’s five albums spread over almost a decade and generated a fervent
regional following around their college stomping grounds of Chapel
Hill, North Carolina. The band reached the heights of one record on
Warner Bros., somewhat humorously titled Suddenly.
Dixon’s debut solo album, Most Of The Girls Like To Dance But Only Some
Of the Boys Like To, included several years worth of “vault raiding.”
With that release, Dixon established himself as more than just an
American rock cult figure. The AOR and CHR success of the album’s hit
single, “Praying Mantis,” gave Dixon the credibility as an artist that
he had already established as a producer. The single also brought him
much attention in Europe, where he toured playing festivals and clubs.

Joining Don will be another of Winston-Salem's rock hero's Mr. Mitch
Easter and his band the Fiendish Minstrels as well as Chapel Hill's own
pop rock supergroup Patty Hurst Shifter.>>
