  Iommi lost the tips of two (maybe three?) fingers on his left hand in an industrial accident at an early age.  He had prosthetic 
tips made for them that enabled him to still play guitar.  I'm sure he's used to it by now, but it's gotta be strange to play guitar 
and not be able to always "feel" the strings -
