As a huge Jayhawks fan, it took me a few listens to really get into the
SONGS on this new record. Sonically it's up to the usual Jayhawks standard..
they make some of the most beautiful sounding records out there, and are
constantly a template for how great modern records CAN sound. But i will say
that if you're looking for the 'rock' on this record, it may not be your cup
of tea. I thought Smile was an incredible pop album, with amazing songs from
top to bottom, especially the mentioned by someone else 'Break in The
Clouds'.

The new album is less like the polished (some would say over polished.. not
me) style of Smile and more like TtGG. I'm wondering how being a 3 piece is
effecting them stylistically. There's a lot of really good songs on it, but
it's not an immediate record, but i didn't find Sound Of Lies immediate
either, and that's a great record.

My advice to you is that really, the Jayhawks don't make bad records.
They're a band whose records as many people as possible should buy straight
away...
