Gotta testify ... saw the Chris Stamey issue of The dB's a few times
from 79-81 here in and around NYC. One night in the summer of '81 at
The Ritz was sheer and utter brilliance!

There was another standout post Chris/Gene(sorta') show in NYC(again @
The Ritz) that was again sheer and utter brilliance. The dB's were
headlining in October of that year on a bill with The Go-Betweens and
Dash Rip Rock. Gene showed up midway thru the guys' set, he was
standing on the stairs that lead down from the dressing room off to the
side of the stage with Janet Wygal('least I think it was Janet), they
were just grooving along with the rest of us. Peter was looking
markedly tense, there didn't seem to be any much rapport of any sort
for a while but the men definitely knew Gene was lurking in the wings.
Finally the band breaks into "Any Old Thing" (think it was that one)
and Gene was asked to come on down ... I wish I could get a hold of a
copy of that show. But anyway ...

I for one love everything by those guys. Any incarnation of the dB's,
solo, colaboratively and/or otherwise, I just love em and I hope that
the "rumors" of a re-union indeed come to light someday!

On the subject of Def Leppard ... I for one shall see yr "Ick" and
raise you an Ack! ... when I was managing The Record Stop out here on
Long Island(Eastport proper) ...damn ... 87/8 when "Hysteria" was
hitting BIG ... gosh, I musta' sold at minimum about a hundred of those
on a "good" week for a period there. Some weeks I was lucky if I sold
a total of 100 items of anything else ... total! Those guys were HUGE
back around that time. "Dr Feelgood" by Motley Crue was quite large
around that time as well, hadda' sell that w/a smile on my face too.

I still dig the hell outta' the Campbell/Wurzel Motorhead as well ...
Budgie indeed ruled Britannia, her waves and all points beyond ...
GREAT BAND!
