Too surreal (or more than likely just coincidental). Hadn't thought about a
friend in years until my buddy and I were listening to some of our old
demos when we hear the sound of a blazing whistling solo (which become a
canned bicycle sample on the disc.) The amazing solo was performed by an
acquaintance who worked at the local record store (of course, I forget his
name, Glenn?) Now this comment. (Let's assume Glenn is correct) Glenn was
gay which to us in 1986 was a novelty. And of course us being the idiotic
teenagers we were (now idiotic mid-life slobs,) we asked the obligatory
questions to our token gay friend. How? He explained that in the (male) gay
community there were 'catchers' and 'pitchers'. We thought that was
absolutely hilarious. I don't find any humor in it these days (except the
memory of us acting like dweebs) and only share because Glenn never had a
problem with being open about anything. He went on to say that he was
indeed a 'catcher'. In sharing this, I make no claims whether his view of
this community is accurate, nor do I place any judgement what-so-ever. Just
funny these 2 recent occurrences jogging the memory of a great guy
regardless of his choice in sexuality.

As for faves, keep 'em coming. I'm just now enjoying the great releases
from LAST year that I just obtained from previous recommendations:
Beck - Sea Change
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
Sigor Ros - ()
Doves - The Last Broadcast

and Hope Sandoval - Bavarian Fruit Bread

I'm thinking all are excellent, especially the first two. Very inspiring.

Looking to forward to this weekend's Aron's Parking Lot sale in Hollywood,
-Jeff
