Stewart - re: Ism -
Is that the band the Jen & JJ Rassler (ex-DMZ) are in?

Oddly enough, three local bands are doing it for me right now:

ISM -- Downbeat 5 ('60s-style garage rock with female vocals)
FROM THE ATTIC -- Damone (remember Lili Taylor's character in SAY ANYTHING,
whose songs were all about her ex-boyfriend Jim? Imagine her fronting TEEN
BABES FROM MONSANTO-era Redd Kross.)
PERMISSION TO BUILD -- Waltham (Bit of an in-joke here: Waltham is the
quintessential Boston burb, the sort of place where if you grew up there in
the late '70s and early '80s, you listened to a lot of...well, Boston.
Listening to this album, it's clear that they're also heavily indebted to
Cheap Trick, Rick Springfield and the Greg Kihn Band. It's definitely
tongue in cheek, but they aren't being patronizing towards this style of
music -- they clearly get off on it. Incest alert: Damone's songwriter
Dave Pino used to be the songwriter in Waltham, which is led by his brother
Frank.)
