at least one band has been an unqualified success with a lineup that included no
original members -- the drifters.  a lot of people will argue that the drifters
mark 2, featuring ben e. king, rudy lewis and johnny moore, was no match for the
clyde-mcphatter led drifters mark 1, but it's hard to argue with the second
lineup's string of pop hits, including "under the boardwalk," "up on the roof,"
"this magic moment," "save the last dance for me" and so many others.

has any other group been successful -- truly, inarguably successful -- with two
completely different lineups?
