Hi friends,
I attended the two shows Paul did here in Barcelona last Friday and Saturday and let me say that he is in top form. His voice, fantastic; the sound of the concert, one of the best I have ever witnessed; the video screens and stage, beautiful. I was really looking forward to these shows after the great reviews from the recent U.S. tour and I have not been disappointed. I'm even started to enjoy Driving Rain! :-)
He plays Birthday in this European tour. I think he didn't in the U.S. tour.
Granted, he still plays a lot of the same songs (I could do without Let Me Roll It, for instance) and I wish he added at least "some" improvisation... but you can forgive that. If you think about it, seeing Paul is a privilege.
On Saturday, he started playing "Baby Face" just before Hey Jude. Too bad it was only 15 seconds or so... I prefer his version to the Little Richard original, really. He should release it!
He also did lengthy soundchecks, and among others, he played Two Of Us and All Things Must Pass, complete!!
Any future concertgoers, do not miss him. The 2 hours and 30 minutes seem 5 minutes only and his rendition of Maybe I'm Amazed -to name just one... wow, just takes you back to mid-70s Wings...so powerful... is worth the price of admission (which is much more decent than the prices he made you pay in the U.S., btw).
