I surmise from following Michael Moore's career for over a decade now that he
most likely just subscribes to the Bed-In era John&Yoko "humor as a weapon"
m.o.
(ie: "We're happy to be the world's clowns if it can help get our message
heard").

Sure, some of his laff bombs land WAY off target, but MM's nothing if not
passionate,
and again like the honeymooning Lennons knew he was gonna get some press
anyways, so he just tried to make the most of it ;-)
And judging from the last few days' attention he's been getting for his Oscar
rant, both pro and con, it seems to have worked ...and will no doubt make it
even easier for him to win (foreign, that is) financing for his NEXT
projects.

Now as for that Dixie Chick's startlingly abrupt about-face, can anyone here
shed any light whatsoever on the theory that most major artists' contracts
nowadaze are imbedded with clauses aplenty forbidding them from speaking and
especially singing out in any ways which may alienate the WalMarts (not to
mention ClearChannels) of the world? Sure, good ol' Steve Earle and now even
J.C. Mellencamp have put their mouths where their minds are, but I still
notice a distinct lack of shock 'n' awe from the Springsteens of the music
world.

"No Nukes," remember??
