Also the remastered versions of the first three Cheap Trick albums have been
packaged together as a three-fer, generally retailing for around $25. Since
these are the remastered versions of the albums (or at least I THINK they
are... I haven't bought this myself) and those are three of their best, it's
probably not a bad place to start.
I've heard a rumor from a co-worker who is a huge Cheap Trick fan that the
entire catalog is going to be reissued/remastered sometime in the
not-so-distant future. While I have a hard time believing that someone talked
their label into reissuing duds like "The Doctor" and "Busted", you might
want to look into this... at least before dropping any serious money on ebay
for their out-of-print mid-80s material. And at present, many of their later
albums ("Lap of Luxury", "Woke Up With a Monster", and the 1997 self-titled
in particular) are also readily available cheaply in budget/cut-out/used
bins. --Jason
