I want to second everything Michael said about
Walter and his band...got to catch a local set at
Fitzgerald's Pub and they blew my party away. I
was privy to the North Carolina Sparklefest set
as well and I truly can't say enough about this
band. One of the truly TOGETHER bands on the
circuit, all that time together shows.
Opening for them was my new fave, Eugene Edwards.
Unfortunately, his band couldn't make it because
they really get things rockin' but Eugene still
made an impression with his charming
rough-around-the-edges Squeeze-esque vocals and
great melodies. I'll be seeing him with full
band at TAIX in my Eastside hood and I can't
wait. We chatted for a bit, seems his record
will be done and out in a couple of months. He's
self-releasing, but to be honest, this was one of
the few times I wish TallBoy had enough pull (and
advance money...) to nab a band. Look for great
things from this guy...the fact that he looks
like a cross between Dave Grohl and CvS doesn't
hurt...
