Been diggin out some older stuff and diggin on it, notably:

Gilt Flake - Brad Jones -- this is a really good CD! I remember liking Miss
July and a few others when I picked it up a few years back, but after having
spun it about 3x in the past few days, now the whole disk is digging down
deep. So why hasn't this guy done anything else (other than recording
others)? Or am I missing something?

B-sides - Fountains of Wayne -- a collection of B sides and odds n ends that
I got from someone. These guys are so great - these rejects are better than
a sides from a lot of bands i've heard about on this list. Can't wait to
hear their new one - when does it release?

Hermit of Mink Hollow - Todd R -- a great elpee's worth of tunes! Of course
there's the hit(s), but I forgot how much I liked album tracks such as
Determination, Bread, Fade Away, etc, etc

At Home With - The Cherry Twisters -- my Steve Ward/STeve Wynn mistake of a
few weeks ago led me to dig this one out, and I'm glad I did. Mr Ward is
quite the tunesmith. Great stuff!

After School Special - Teen Machine -- super catchy, energetic bubblegum
glam. Not too deep, but real fun to drive and bop the head and pound on the
steering wheel to. i wish they let the girls sing lead more like on "Hot
Mom", which makes me smile every time i hear it. (Thanks, Stephanie (I
think it was Stephanie?) who put this on her most excellent SOTT13 comp a
few years back and eventually led me to this purchase!)

moving from one extreme to the other... The Rising - Bruce Springsteen --
Okay, not older stuff, and certainly not the kind of music typically
discussed on this list, but I do recall some mention on this list -
actually, rather mixed reviews from some of the listmembers, ranging from
"great" to "snoozeville". My opinion falls into the "great" category. I
must say that I am fanatical about the boss's work from Greetings From
Asbury Park through The River, and really liked most of Born in the USA and
its followup (can't remember title!) - but most of the late 80s and 90s
stuff (what little there was) I either felt was boring or only liked
somewhat. His latest is somewhat of a return to form.

and at the risk of flames galore, Desperado - The Eagles -- I was way into
these guys' first 3 albums when I was, like 13-16 yrs old. I grew to hate
their stuff from albums #5 onward. But I recently picked up this one in CD
format, and I have to say that I just keep playing it! Good concept,
strong, memorable songs, nice flow, excellent playing and singing - so
what's wrong with that? okay, flame away...
