I would highly recommend you see them.  The Waking Hours are an L.A. band
whose contemporary take on classic mod/power pop is very dynamic.  The band,
particularly lead vocalist Tom Richards, is extremely energetic on stage,
and the songs (even the ballads) really rock.  Their new CD, The Good Way,
is possibly their best (I haven't quite decided whether I like it more than
their release of a few years ago).  You can check out some sound clips at
