greetings all:

first, many thanks for the sympathy and offers to
burn/replace my stolen cds - another reason this is
such a lovely community to be a part of, lemme tell
ya. Second, they weren't stolen, and i am an ass. My
car was located...across the street from my apartment.
In some kind of catastrophic brainfart, i had
apparently simply misremembered what i'd been doing
all week and consequently WHEN i had parked it there -
the odd thing is i STILL can't remember parking it
there, but there you have it. A truly, impressively
spectacular display of complete mental retardation. I
seem to be better now, but just wanted to let you all
know - all is well, apart from the me being an ass
part, and I hope we've all learned a valuable lesson
here: don't leave your cds in the car, drive your car
more than once a week, and never make rash assumptions
when your mind is preoccupied with other things. You
may all now desist feeling sorry for me and commence
with the mocking, since that is what i so richly
deserve...the policemen who i talked with last night
seemed to think so, anyway. Oy!

on a musical note, i volunteer at a school for adult
musical education in their resource center, where we
mostly sit around listening to old vinyl and entering
liner notes into a database that we hope to launch
online someday with other music libraries for the Good
Of All. Frequently we get boxes and boxes of donated
old vinyl, which is sorted into "Keepers" and "Dogs"
(how many frickin' lps did Anne Murray make, anyway?)
but pawing through the Dogs today I found not only a
live Be-Bop Deluxe lp with bonus ep intact, "Live in
the Air Age," but also....Emitt Rhodes' s/t debut!
What the hell! They're keeping the totally suck ASS
first Steve Winwood solo but not THIS? So my moral
dilemma for the day: do I tell em they may NOT put
this in the dogpile (usually ends up getting sold) and
must preserve him for posterity, or do i let them toss
it in the dogpile and then snatch it up? O,
indecision! O, quandary! O well, I already have the
cd anyway...though I note that there's etching on the
vinyl of some kind of folk-art coat of arms that reads
"RECORDED AT HOME" that I kind of dig.

anyway, back to feeling stupid.

your friend, the big ass,
