Well (and not just to be contrary), Cash's early Columbia stuff has gotten
the reissue treatment, and if he's ever made a better single studio record
than THE FABULOUS JOHNNY CASH, I haven't heard it. The American Recording
stuff is good, real good in spots, but if I've gotta point somebody toward
one Cash record that isn't recorded in a California prison<g>, see FABULOUS.
b.s. who thinks the "Hurt" video avoids being manupulative tripe purely on
the gravitas of Mr. Cash hisself
