Hi

I don't have the time to put together a list with new discoveries but here
is a big list of old "Unexplored" stuff (not only Power Pop):

1) Jamme "Same" (probably from the late 60ties) 2 Australian brothers (Keith
& Don Adey) that sound at times similar to Left Bank

2) Wallace Collection "Same" (1970) Belgium band that uses a lot of strings.
They put out, I think, 3 albums with very pretty Pop-Beat-Psych.

3) Waxing Poetics "Hermitage" (1986) Produced by Mitch Eastern & Mike Mills.
One can hear some REM, Jangle Pop and Paisley Underground

4) Rex "Same" (1989) UK band that sounds like Del Amitri and at times the
La´s

5) Quick "Mondo Deco" (1976) Produced by KimFowley and earle Mankey. With
Steven Hufstetter, that played later in the Dickies and Danny Wilde, that
played later in Great Building, the Rembrandts and solo. Mixture of
Glam-Rock and Power Pop. Reminds me at times on the later Dickies.

6) Milk and Cookies "Same" (1976) with Ian North. Kind of similar to the
Quick: Glam Rock and Pop with a very sweet voice.

7) Ginger "Same" (1980). Very good Pop-Rock. Their 2 albums belonged for
some time to fav records.

-------------------------

1) William Lyall "Solo Casting" (1976) This guy played in Pilot. The album
is great Artpop with various influences like Bossa Nova, Reggae and Theater
music. Recommended!!

2) Clifford T. Ward "Mantle Piece" (1973) As good as "Home Thoughts" Great
70ties pop mostly with classical instrumentation. Recommended!!

3) The Dudes "Where Are The Boys" (1980) Power Pop / Pop band from New
Zealand. Similar to the Boys and The Flys. The album has some great tracks.

4) Paul Ryan "Scorpio Rising" (1976) great Artpop. Recommended!!

5) Nick Garvey "Blue Skies" (1982) The guy from the Motors. His solo album
is more pop / rock.

6) You light up my life - Soundtrack to movie with the same name written by
Joseph Brooks (1977) very similar to the Carpenters and definitely as good
as they. Recommended!!

----------------------------

Key West "Love Me Tonight" - They sound like a mixture between Tommy
> Hoehn, Badfinger, Clifford T Ward, Russell Dean. Their record was pressed
in
> Belgium but from the names they must be americans. The records sound as if
> it was from the mid till the later 70ties (there is no year on it). If you
> stumble over this get it. It is really worth it.
>
> 2) Keys "Album" People were talking about this some time ago. I got it for
> only $3. It is also worth every penny. It does remind me on a more sixties
> oriented version from the Knack.
>
> 3) Chris Sievey "Big Record" Great Psych Oop from this underground pop
> legend. Didn´t even know that hje had put out a whole album (it is from
> 1986) He was also with the Freshies.
>
> 4) Power Play "Avanti" A dutch trio that reminds me a lot on the late
> Badfinger stuff. Especially, the singers voice. Also great stuff. From
1982.
>
> 5) Russia "Same" Is from 1980 and some good songs. Cant really think of
band

------------------------------------

1) Gulliver "Ridin The Wind" (1979) Similar to Boston, especially the
singing harmonies. Musically even with a touch Power Pop

2) Straight Eight "Shuffle 'n' Cut" (1980) Good rocky Power Pop from this
english band. Similar to the Flys or the boys.

3) Quacky Duck "Media Push" (1974) great Westcoast, Countryrock with a some
Rockabilly, Tex Mex and Blues. They sound like a a lot of this modern
Americana Band

4) Space Opera "Same" (1972) The bandname is missleading. Incredible
Westcoast, Folk, Pop Band, that has sometimes a touch of the early
McCartney.

5) Expressos "Promises And Ties" (1981) great Power Pop / New Wave from this
UK band with a female singer.

------------------------------

1) Catholic Girls "Same" (1982) Similar to the Go Go's and the Bangles but a
bit more new wavy

2) David Werner "Whizz Kid" (1974) great 70ties pop/rock with lots of good
singing harmonies. Recommended!

3) The Lookalikes "Daydreamin at night" (1981) Pop, Power and New Wave. The
album has some nice songs.

4) Mark Radice "Same" (1972) great 70ties pop. reminds me sometimes a bit on
Billy Joel, altough it came out in the same year likes Joels first.
Recommended!

------------------------------------

1) The Dragon "Power Play" (1979) Aussi band with some great Power Pop songs
and some ordinary Pop / Rock songs

2) The D.P's "If You Know What I Mean" (1978) at times similar to the Boys
or the Flys

3) Smashers "Same" (1981) Power Pop with Pop, Rock and New Wave

4) Blue Steel "No More Lonely Nights" (1979) great Power Pop (with "Shark"
written by Dwight Twilley) Not the band with Tommy Keene.

5) Bighorn "Same" (1978) great Art-Pop/Rock

--------------------------------------------

1) The Label "Recalling the times" (1981) Dutch band with a mix of Power
Pop, Pop and Wave. The album has some really strong songs

2) Aviary "Same" (1979) Great Rock/Pop band with excentric and theatrical
singer. In some moments they remind me on Queen. Very recommended!!!

-----------------------------------------

1) Citizen "Sex and society" (1980) great Pop, New Wave, Power Pop.
Recommened!

2) Christopher Milk "Some people will drink anything" (1972) Take a bit of
early Wings, McCartney with some not so rocking Mott the hoople and mix it
with a voice somewhere between Randy Newman and McCartney and what you get
sounds similar to Christopher Milk. BTW: They also do a funny cover of
Locomotion. Great!

3) Felony "The Fanatic" (1982) reminds me a bit on early Police with some
Pop and New Wave.

4) Greenfield & Cook "Same" (1972) Emitt Rhodes, McCartney and Simon and
Garfunkel influences lead to a very pretty acoustic Pop with some
orchestration.

All the best

Robert
