I'll chime in here. I think the Kohl's music is the best music being played in any commercial this week. And there's a lot of really good music being played on commercials. Like someone here said, TV commercials are the new radio. (Maybe it was someone somewhere else. How's that for narrowing it down? It definitely wasn't me and that's all I know for sure, I guess.)

Someone ought to come up with a list of top commercial songs each week (not based on charts, just based on "how good is the song") and play them on a radio show. That's almost ironic enough to work.

I know someone will be able to come up with other "roots of the trend" landmarks, but I trace the use of great songs in TV commercials to the Volkswagen commercial a couple of years ago that used the Moonpools and Caterpillars song "Hear." To a lesser extent you might be able to thank "Burger King" for its oldies songs.

Scott
