I have a soft spot for the chain...but only on a technicality.

I worked for Record Bar / Tracks for 6 years. At the tail end of my time
there, they were bought out by Blockbuster Entertainment and became, what
else, Blockbuster Music. But Blockbuster cut their losses and passed the
buck to Wherehouse Music. So, anyway, long story short, I still know people
who work for the company, who've held on through all the ownership changes,
so I feel bad that they'll be out of work...especially when the people in
question actually know how to run a store. It's just that the corporate
higher-ups won't let 'em order much in the way of product. Right about the
time I left, it had gotten to the point where individual stores weren't
allowed to use their own discretion to order stock for the store. What kind
of crap is that?!?

Having worked for those bandits back in '73, I can say that I'm amazed
they lasted so long. I got out of there as fast as I could. The only
good thing was the truck loads of cut outs that would arrive every
couple of weeks. I worked for a couple other chains before I danced out
of retail forever. They were all idiots, and I was the biggest idiot for
helping them make loads of money for a wage that wouldn't support me in
the Bay Area. Thank goodness for all the promos..hehehe
