I was just being a smartass and sneaking in through the teensy opening you
gave me to talk about the rip-roaring ball of entertainment excitement that
is Ms. Jones. It's not meant as a "backlash," just the same yawn and a
shrug I gave her music last spring when I first heard it. She does seem
like a nice gal, and she is a refreshing contrast to some of the
award-winning personalities present at the event. I wish her no ill, but I
won't be joining the post-grammy buyers or bashers, because for me there's
just nothing interesting enough about what she does to care a whole lot one
way or the other.
b.s. who doesn't listen to his Madeline Peyroux or Cassandra Wilson or
(fill in the bland, er, blank) records anymore either...it's not that they
aren't talented, but they just don't move me
