Howdy. I didn't contribute a Top Five singles picks for 2002 yet,
and I usually don't think in terms of "Top 5 Power Pop singles" or
"Top 5 Power Pop songs" (which have been separated out from the
albums that they're a part of) -- but what the hell, a few great songs
popped into my head (from the list I turned in for the Audities Top
20), and so I'll list five of those:
1. "Folksinger" - Brendon Benson (from 'Lapalco')
Great lyrics...and click on this link which takes you to
the Amazon page -- give the sample a listen if you've never
heard the song: http://makeashorterlink.com/?S263321A3
2. "Don't Want You Back" - The Sights ('Got What We Want')
3. "Everything You Said" - The Resonars ('Lunar Kit')
4. "Igen" - The Blondes ('The Blondes', covering a band called
Illes)
5. "Skeleton Key" - The Coral ('The Coral')
