Hi everyone,
Well, it seems like just a few of us wished to share their top 5 picks
this year, which is just fine. If you'd like to get your ideas in, just
post 'em or email me at mikenrox@wmis.net I still like getting the input,
if only for the fact that back in 1999, there was a pick that showed up on 4
lists and the artist and CD had flown completely beneath my radar. I had to
find the cut "Her Shake" by Adam Daniel - whomever *that* was. I am happy
to own "Blue Pop" and anxiously await the Adam Daniel Frequency album.
My personal Top 5 of 2002 are:
1. "I Woke Up In Love This Morning" - by Doug Powell
2. "What To Do" - OK Go
3. "Your Biggest Fan" - Yum Yums
4. "Target In My Heart" - Private Jets
5. "You're In Love, Again" - Bigger Lovers (To me, this ballad would have
been a highlight of a full-length Wonders release on Play Tone)
Others that caught my ear this year-
"Get Over It" - OK Go
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - The Drowners (btw - is there a US release
date for their new one - "Muted to a Whisper"?)
"Cul De Sac" - Doug Powell
"Trippin' On Your Love" - Ed James
"Gettin' Higher" - The Shazam
"You Know Who" - The Shazam
"With Your Smile" - The Oohs
"When I Die" - Parralax Project (a ballad that isn't quite power pop, but
*is* quite good)
"Gone" - Popium
I promise to respond belatedly to all those who submitted cuts.
Mike
np: The JTG Implosion - A great party disc with Joe Giddings swinging Brian
May's axe all over the place.
