Tonight was the second night of the Nada Surf gigs here in Chicago. Fabulous set by them tonight. This was my second time seeing them, and this time the venue was more intimate. I'm not familiar with the new album....YET. I just bought it tonight.
Anyway, the main reason I went was to check out Sondre Lerche who has a record out on Astralwerks called "Faces Down". I have seen his video on 120 Minutes and scanned thru some tracks on a Tower Records listening station. He's a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Norway. His set was truly engaging. He's so charming, and that voice is wonderful. I'm a fan of Brazilian music. One artist in particular...Caetano Veloso. Sondre's voice reminds me of an English version of Veloso's vocal style. It's so smooth and effortless. He did a great redition of "Night and Day". He's extremely talented, and I have to buy his record later on today.
