Hey David -

I went back and listened to portions of all three and understand your
assessment of each.  I guess perception makes the world go round.  To my
ears, the differences you described come across as nuance rather major
changes.  Even though he sings differently on two of the three in
particular, his voice still has a distinctive sound that characterizes all
his work.  Of course, the same argument can be made for almost any artist,
but to me, I still get the same general feel from each of his albums.  I do
like all three, although my favorite by far is Illiterature, which kicks off
with my favorite track of his, Just Listen.

I like his sound and his voice, but I don't obsess over it like I do some
others, like Neil Finn or Glenn Tilbrook.
