I was revisiting the White Album recently and came across
something I've always wondered about. The booklet to Disc
One on my copy has a 6-digit number printed on it below the
title. I always wondered whether all copies of the White
Album CD had this; and if any of the other CDs in the
Beatles catalog had the serial numbers too. None of the
others I own have them.

Could it be that only the first pressing had the numbers?
I remember purchasing my copy at a Musicland store on the
day of its release in 1988, I think. Perhaps the original
LP covers had serial numbers on them and therefore the CDs
reflected this in order to stay true to the packaging of
the record when it came out twenty years earlier?

Also, it was mentioned on the list last year sometime that
the first four Beatles albums (British Versions) were set
to be remastered and re-released. Does anybody have any
news on this?
