Michael,
As you know I have not said a word through this entire nonsense. Overall I
think Bill Holmes has done the best to articulate the general feel of this
list and my opinion. But there have been lots of intelligent
posts. Nonetheless, in my opinion this has degenerated to the same level
as the Geir nonsense of a few years ago. This is no longer about
intelligent discussion of music or opinions. It is no longer a silly
diversion, where people maybe don't play nice for a day or two, but than
comeback to the general polite style of this list. No, this is now about
someone posting for their own ego. It's a clear "look at me I'm important
and can stir things up and be the focus of your list". Sure it would be
better if people would just ignore Eb, because even though Michael Bennett
tried to engage in intelligent discussion, at the end of the day, even when
Eb does some thought through response, the underlying theme is still not
what this list has been about since its inception. You have done an
excellent job of moderating this list over all the years. You do it as a
labor of love and you have created a place that is mostly respectful and
polite, and yes informative. It's about music, so we will all disagree at
various times (thank god) and, because music is more of a passion to all of
us we occasionally will react with too much emotion and too little
thought. But, in the end the essence of this list always comes back to
respectfulness and basic manners. So, I ask you as moderator, please you
gave this topic a warning. You asked it to stop. But it goes on and
unfortunately, people keep responding to Eb. Sure it would be better if
everyone would just ignore Eb, but we all know that won't happen. And Eb
always wants a last word. So Michael, can you end it?????
Thanks,
Bill
