Before March comes in like a lion, pop music will roar mightily at The
Sherman Oaks Lounge on Friday, February 28, with the next installment of
International Pop Overthrow Presents.

Here's the lineup...

8:45 Popgun: According to their bio, this band from Sacramento "blasted onto
the scene a few years ago with their 'catchy hooks, Beatle-esque harmonies,
Brian Wilson infected melodies and Glam/Pop/Rock sensibilities' and took the
NorCal music scene by storm!" After listening to their upcoming disc I'd
have to say "right on", but I would also add a Fountains Of Wayne
sensibility into that mix. Definitely a force to be reckoned with in the
future! www.popgun.org

9:30 Kristi Callan: The venerable songstress whose bands Wednesday Week and
Lucky were extremely beloved. Callan is the possessor of one of the most
beautiful voices in this scene, and her songwriting is filled with both
passion and depth. Look for a new full-length CD from her soon!

10:15 The Blondes: Talking about glam sensibilities, these guys really
corner that market with a two-pronged lead vocal attack and some of the most
infectuous melodies this side of Slade and The Sweet (take my word for it,
folks)...and they really rock! The band mixes originals with several
well-chosen, cool covers, including Mud's "Dyna-mite" (a top 5 hit in
England) and "Igen", by the Hungarian beat/psychedelic band Illes. Too cool
for words! www.middleclasspig.com

11:00 Plasticsoul: Just shows what perseverance can do, as these guys have
made it work even though the two main singer/songwriters live 2,000 miles
apart! A lot of sound is represented here; from Crowded House to Cole
Porter and all points west. They say they should have their debut
full-length CD out by the year 3000...I don't know if I can wait that long!!

Admission is FREE! The Sherman Oaks Lounge is a 21 and over venue, and is
located at 5248 Van Nuys Blvd.
Phone: 818 784-1920.

We hope to see you there!
