They're receiving a lifetime achivement award, though that dinner
is the night before the big shew - as Ed would say - so I'm a
little confused about what's actually gonna happen. Geoff Emerick,
an engineer possibly as well know here as some of the musicians he
recorded, is also getting one. Another story has S&G considering
a reunion tour. We'll see.
Btw, Christy & I saw Art play the Fillmore (for his first time
ever) along with Maia Sharp and Buddy Mondlock, supporting his
fantastic new album. One of the best concerts I've attended in a
very long time. They performed most of the new record, though the
performance was a wonderful mix of the record, Artie's solo stuff
(incl the fantastic Jimmy Webb number Scissors Cut), some Maia &
Buddy solo material and of course a few Simon & Garfunkel standards
- all interspersed throughout the 2-set show. A rare Fillmore
sitdown event (last being Finn Bros), the crowd at rapt attention,
no inappropiate shouts, etc, and I swear I was only mid-age, crowd
wise. Several encores, they played every song they knew.
A perfect moment indeed,
- michael
