Damone has a REALLY screwy history. Basically they're the combination of two
bands called Noelle and Waltham. Noelle was really just the earlier version
of Damone, and they sounded more or less the same except there was more
emphasis on synths. Waltham, which was Pino's project, was quite different.
They were blatantly and unabashedly in the style of Journey/Boston (hence the
name.. they took it from the Boston suburb from whence they came). Almost all
of their songs were just girl's names, like "Cheryl" and "Nicole." At shows,
Pino would really ham it up and ask if there was a girl in the audience named
Cheryl before they played the song, and he often would walk right out and
sign it to her, heart-throb style. They did put out one album, called "First
Album", that failed to find an audience because it was way too uncool for the
indie crowd and way too smirking for the '80s hair band crowd. It's funny
anyway, though. --Jason
