Michael,

I've found it's no use arguing religion or musical tastes. All music is
useful in a way, serving a purpose and pleasing a certain audience at a
given time. Not all music is good but, hey, maybe it pleases someone and
gives them some pleasure.

In a list forum, it seems to be hard to be negative and then state the
reasons for that negativity without drawing more criticism. I just try to
focus on the stuff I'm into and on the positive music I like and, as an
added bonus, its puts me in a better permanent frame of mind overall. I
don't care if it's power pop as I believe there are only two kinds of
music-good and bad (at least good or bad for you at the musical place you
are at presently).

I've seen comments on this list such as "If you are into Sloan, this is for
you" and those kind of comments are good because they don't judge music
qualitatively but just try to say it could be for you if you like such and
such an artist.

Mike V.
