Never heard that until I got the CD! Never heard it on my old LP. If you
listen closely to "I Feel Much Better" it seems that last verse starts in
the wrong key but the band quickly changes it.
I noticed in a lot of 60's stereo mixes they didn't mute the vocal mike at
the beginning of songs so you can hear coughs, licks being licked, clearing
throats and sometimes mumbling in the background. One of my favorites is
the stereo mix of The Rascals "Groovin" - if you have the CD Listen closely
on headphones and you can hear somebody tapping their foot! On The
Association's first album you can hear a lot of strange background noises.

That's on the stereo mix only - it's fixed on the Mono version.

My favorite is "Tell Me Why" - on the stereo mix on the old "Something New"
LP you can hear Geroge or John running his hands across the strings for a
cool "zinnnnng" effect right at the end of the song. On the mono mix on CD,
it's faded out early!! :(

I noticed the cough in the middle of "Wendy" for years - my guesses is that
studio monitors or amplifiers back in the 60's weren't all that great so
they didn't hear it, or engineers or producers didn't give a damn about the
stereo mix because they didn't sell as well as mono albums back then.
