Dunno how many more folks have heard the Belles yet, but they just put an
MP3 of a nice cover of the Lemonheads' "My Drug Buddy" (which is not
otherwise available) on their site. There are also a couple of album
samples and a video. See www.thebelles.com.
As long as I'm here, I may as well add some news about other bands in my
backyard. First, a new Ultimate Fakebook EP is due May 13. Second, one of
my favorite newer area bands, the People, are heading out on tour with Nada
Surf and Sondre Lerche--if you're going to one of those shows, consider
going early so you can check them out. They blend a variety of influences
(a little glam, a little Britpop, a little midwest power pop) into
