The two points were that (1) both are a lot less in volume than Pazz&Jop and
(2) both are from skewed groups of listeners. Sorry you missed both points.

Nice paraphrase. Sorry that I don't think all eleven hundred critics in the
poll have good taste, but since they're not controlling the playlist at my
house, I don't care. And yes, I'll be honest - although I respect their
right to their opinion, someone who thinks Nickleback made one of the ten
best records of the year has little credibility with me. And I'm equally
certain that my leanings towards powerpop, glam and garage alienates the
hiphop, electronica and blues purists. I sleep well.

I don't have any problem with mainstream success - worked for the Beatles
and hundreds of other artists in my collection. I do have a problem with the
consolidation of the media, which now incorporates the live concert market
as well, into something resembling a corporate monopoly that dumbs down to
the lowest common denominator. And I do think that anyone who doesn't sail
under the radar to seek out great music is destined to live with what they
get. I'm not mad at those people, but I do feel they are missing great
things.

Anytime you want to have an intelligent discussion about any of this, I'm
willing. But if you just want to follow your current M.O. of hit and run
bullshit, go pump yourself up in front of your friends and don't waste my
time. Frankly, I'm amused at your "If I said that I'd get slammed" memos
when it's pretty obvious why you alienate anyone you come in contact with.
You even think every response to your posts (see mine on this topic) is a
jab at you so your dueling swords must come out. Please! You aren't that
good.

So shock the world and talk about music on a music list. Or don't you have
any original thoughts?
