The important things are
* go with your emotional flow at the moment - a little planning is OK but
spontaneity has its good points - perhaps pretend you took over the radio
station for the night and this is your chance
* if you're making it for someone in particular, don't think about what they
want to hear, think about what you want them to feel, or what you want to
say
* mix tempos - not necessarily song to song, but enough. for example, after
five fast rockers, number six doesn't have the same impact
* enjoy it yourself - because you ARE your mix, after all. your personality
(or joy or heartbreak of angst or sense of humor or...) will shine through
* save the master!
