I think they were still a regional chain. last time I saw one was in Moore
Oklahoma, nearby the KOMA-AM transmitter (which just dumped oldies after 15
years and switched to news-talk)

I had a friend who worked for them in Wichita, KS and he told me they went
through a couple of ownership changes, they don't have a clue how to run a
pizza chain. Lowering quality, and not building new stores or renovating
old stores isn't the way to compete.

I wish they were nationwide, instead of a regional phenomenon - last time
I ate at one was in Houston in 1977 when I was 16 and with my family on
vacations. It was an outdoor stand and we ate outside with a jukebox
playing Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give it Up" which was in the Top 5 at the
time. Tried the microwave sliders, yuck! Gimmie the real thing.

If I moved out of the Southwest I'd probably miss Dairy Queen and Sonic
Drive-In more. The only redeeming thing about Whataburger is they stay open
24 hours.
