I don't doubt the greatness of Brooks Robinson, but his last good season was
1974. If we're talking third basemen of the '70s and '80s, I'd say you can
stick him #1 for the '60s. No way Schmidt ranks anywhere lower than first on
the '70s and '80s list, and I have no doubt he's the best thirdbaseman ever.

This is not accurate, but it's hard to explain the subtleties of the grand
booing tradition in Philadelphia. We did give him a harder time than
probably necessary, but we made up for it with unabashed love toward the end
of his career and ever since. Again, he's my #1 thirdbaseman. His glove was
second only to Robinson's, according to those who saw Brooks in his prime,
and he was among the premier sluggers of his era.

You're sounding like a '70s-era Phillies fan, Billy:) I couldn't help but
like Cey. I think I'd rank the Penguin 5th, behind Nettles and Bill Madlock.
