Are you talking about the remastered versions with bonus tracks from a few
years back or those old Reprise (which are still on the shelves) or UK
Castle Communications CD's that were released in the 80's that were really
bad sounding. Castle did a horrible job on much of the old Pye catalog
(Searchers and Petula) before they got their act together and started
caring about quality.

I have to agree with you here, but those were the LP's that introduced me
to the early Kinks - I could buy them for $2.99 at Wal-Mart in the early
80's, The Spanish cassettes were even WORSE. Im amazed that any UK/USA
group could become popular with the shoddy state of vinyl in those countries.
And my College bookstore that sold LP's from Singapore cheap. I bought the
Ramones "It's Alive" and "Rocket To Russia" pressed on very flimsy vinyl
and recycled cardboard. But I had a cheap 15 watt Panasonic stereo in my
Dorm room and I played them anyway.
