agreed. i also find tim to be something of an
overbearing showman, which is sometimes warranted but
not, IMHO, when it is to prop up songs of surprisingly
consistent mediocrity. ooooh, who's feeling bitchy
this morning? that's a little more harsh than i really
mean to come off...i don't HATE the guy, I just don't
like his output, and find his lil bro to have gotten
all the songwriting genes that end up mattering to me.
Every time I shudder hearing "Private Universe," you
can be assured it's a very different shudder from the
kind that happens during "Road to Roratonga." Yeah,
they're both credited on this, but i blame tim for
bringing out the worst in neil here: somehow that
arty percussion crap smacks of meandering jam sessions
in someone's basement, fueled by Fosters and possibly
interesting, if it weren't already done better by the
cast of Blue Man Group and Stomp!. For whatever
that's worth to ya. Ditto the sentiment about the Enz
stuff i like all ending up being Neil, not Tim....
but JEEEZ o pete am i psyched to see neil and rhett
miller this week....eeee! I'm like a little girl.
