The Weekend section of today's Times gave me a pleasant shock.  Rita 
Coolidge is booked for a month at one of NY's tonier cabaret venues, Cafe 
Carlyle.

I have no idea what she will sound like but at 57 or 58 she looks simply 
smashing in the ad.  The band listed on her website =

Lynn Keller -  Bass . . . Music Director
John Groover McDuffie   guitar
Lynn Coulter - percussion
John Thomas - keyboard and piano

The one and only time I saw her was with Mad Dogs & Englishmen.  It should 
be interesting to see how she has reinvented herself.
