As for EARLY bands getting this obsession started for me, primarily only
one.....KISS! (in fact ~6 months ago I purchased the 70's KISS catalog
reissues when Columbia House was selling 'em $1.99/each. I'm still
listening to them.) I mowed many a lawn to earn funds to buy KISS vinyl @
Pink Panther Records Store.
