Subject Who Would Make A Great Solo Album?

My post about Queen's "Long Away" reminded me that one of the reasons that
song is so different from the rest of the Queen canon is that it was written
and sung by Brian May. So I got to thinking: who would have made or would
make a great solo album, if he or she had the opportunity or inclination?
I'm not talking about the main singer/songwriter of a band- I'm thinking
more of someone who is a supporting player. For example, if Brian May had
done a solo album surrounding "Long Away", it could have revealed several
pop gems.

Other candidates:

Mike D'amico: Based upon the demos of his that I've heard, as well as most
of his tracks on Wondermints albums, I've got to believe his solo album
would be stellar.

Jay Ferguson: No, not the "Thunder Island" guy (though I LOVE that song).
I'm talking about the guitarist from Sloan. I like the songs he sings way
better than those sung by Chris Murphy, so I'd more than welcome a solo
effort from him.

Who do you think would (or would have) make a great solo album?
