Okay, I'll have a go at it.

1) Todd Rundgren/Utopia - front the opening chords of
"We Gotta Get You A Woman" I was hooked. Took a detour
back to the Nazz ("A Beautiful Song" blew me away),
and onward to "Something/Anything?" which remains to
this day a pop masterpiece.

2) The Beatles - from "Meet The Beatles" on I couldn't
put'em down. Still have the first single I ever got
("She Loves You" on Swan records).

3) Elton John - up until around 1975 (Captain
Fantastic). After that, mostly bleh.

4) The Monkees - Mickey Dolenz was my musical
hero...until I got a chance to interview him in the
early 80's (with Davey Jones) and he acted like an
arrogant prick. Great songs for a confused teenage
kid going through puberty.

5) Queen - they expanded my musical horizons. Can't
say that about many bands. RIP Freddy.
